Materials & Aftercare Guide
At PFG Wholesale, we believe that high-quality jewellery deserves high-quality care. Whether you are choosing a new piece or healing a fresh piercing, our guide ensures you have the information you need for a safe and stylish experience.
Our Materials
The material you choose is vital, as skin can react differently to various metals. We specialise in high-polish, biocompatible materials designed for longevity.
G23 Titanium
-
The Gold Standard: We use Grade 23 Ti6AL4V ELI, the only grade recommended by the Association of Professional Piercers.
-
Biocompatible: Titanium is 100% hypoallergenic and highly recommended for those with sensitive skin or existing irritations.
-
Lightweight: At 60% the weight of stainless steel, it offers superior comfort for daily wear.
-
Vibrant Colour: Our coloured Titanium is achieved through Ion Plating (IP), resulting in a finish that is harder and more chemically stable than traditional plating.
316L Surgical Stainless Steel
-
High Lustre: Known for its brilliant shine and "implant grade" quality, this is the most popular material for body piercing.
-
Electro-Polished: Most of our steel items undergo electrochemical smoothing to ensure an ultra-smooth, crevice-free surface that resists contamination.
-
Safe & Durable: Highly biocompatible and used extensively in medical and pharmaceutical industries.
925 Sterling Silver
-
Classic Beauty: Consisting of 92.5% pure silver, our sterling silver is alloyed with copper for essential strength.
-
Tarnish Care: Silver naturally reacts with oxygen and sulphur. To maintain its shine, store in a cool, dry pouch and clean early signs of yellowing with a soft polishing cloth.
-
Healed Piercings Only: We recommend Sterling Silver only for fully healed piercings.
Piercing Aftercare
Successful healing requires patience and a strict hygiene routine. Follow these essential steps to ensure your piercing heals perfectly.
1. Cleanliness is Key
-
Wash Your Hands: Always scrub your hands thoroughly before touching your piercing or the surrounding area.
-
Saline Soak: Clean your piercing twice daily with a saline solution (saltwater).
-
Fresh Water: Showering is preferred over bathing, as it provides a constant stream of fresh water to wash away debris.
-
Dry Gently: After cleaning, always dab the area dry with a clean towel or paper cloth.
2. Hands Off
-
Avoid Fiddling: Do not twist, turn, or play with new jewellery. This introduces bacteria and causes "micro-tears" that slow down healing.
-
Let it Breathe: Wear loose clothing made from natural fibres (like cotton) to avoid friction and allow airflow to the site.
3. What to Avoid
-
Harsh Chemicals: Never use alcohol, Betadine, tea tree oil, or hydrogen peroxide. These are too aggressive and can damage healing tissue.
-
Early Changes: Do not change your jewellery until the piercing is fully healed. We recommend consulting your professional piercer before your first swap.
